What Size Cushion Do I Need for My Sofa?

Choosing the right cushion size makes all the difference to how your sofa looks and feels. Here's a simple guide to getting it right — whatever the size of your sofa.

It's one of the most common questions we get asked — and it's a good one. The wrong cushion size can make even the most beautiful sofa look a little off. Too small and they look lost; too large and they overwhelm the space. Here's how to get it right.

Our sizes — and what they work well for

Our cushions come in two sizes:

• 45x45cm — the most versatile size. Works well on armchairs, smaller two-seater sofas, and as accent cushions layered in front of larger ones. If you're buying your first set of cushions, this is a safe starting point.
• 60x60cm — the statement size. Best suited to larger three-seater sofas and corner sofas, where smaller cushions can look a little lost. Also works beautifully on beds.

How many cushions do you need?

A general rule: odd numbers always look better than even. Here's a rough guide:

• Armchair — 1  cushion (45x45cm)
• Two-seater sofa — 3 cushions (45x45cm)
• Three-seater sofa — 3 or 5 cushions (a mix of 45x45cm and 60x60cm works well)
• Corner sofa — 5 or 7 cushions, mixing sizes for depth and interest

Mixing sizes

If you want to add a bit more visual interest, try layering sizes — place the larger cushions at the back and the smaller ones in front. It creates depth and makes the arrangement feel considered rather than uniform.

A note on feather inners
